Just heard from Debbie at Minx who’s busy unpacking stacks of lovely summer goodies. Good news for the 2010 dirtgirls is that for the umpteenth summer running Minx will be supporting the week. Every dirtgirl will get a special discount code to enable her to buy new goodies for her mtb holiday, then Minx will be sending end of week prizes for everyone. Minxes hit Morzine!

Chalet Musardiere is a member of the multipass scheme, meaning that included with your mountain bike pass is all the benefits of the multipass.
As a flowmtb guest in Chalet Musardiere you are able to use the swimming pool, tennis courts and local buses for free during your stay (€1 per day if you don’t have a bike lift pass).
Ride the Morzine mountain bike trails all day, then have a quick dip in the pool before returning to the Chalet for one of Jess’s top evening meals and a glass of wine. Perfect!

There’s more Brits coming to ride in Morzine than any other nation! Here’s some stats published by the Portes du Soleil:
The Portes du Soleil area is only one hour from Geneva International Airport and attracts mountain bikers from all over Europe. The highest number of riders comes from Great Britain, representing over 40%, followed by 30% from France and 15% from Switzerland. Benelux represents 7% with Germany representing 4% and Italy, Spain and Scandinavia making up the rest.
Key numbers for summer 2010 mountain biking in Morzine and the Portes du Soleil
25 chairlifts and cable cars
650 km of runs
12 linked resorts
1 Mountain Bike Tour 80 km long
10 Mountain Bike parks
15 Mountain Bike schools
25 bike shops renting and selling
equipment
While many other resorts welcome mountain bikers, the Portes du Soleil area, is home to one of the most extensive Mountain Bike playgrounds on earth, with 650kms of bike tracks, linking 12 Franco-Swiss resorts. A leader in the field, the Portes du Soleil saw the potential over 15 years ago and has been investing strongly in this facility ever since, with the first inter-station links opening in the ‘90s. The Portes du Soleil is uniquely positioned, with both its world-class network of 25 chairlifts and cable cars open all through the summer and its partnership with its 12 resorts established over 40 years, to provide an incomparable mountain bike experience.
Last year’s guests will remember that the Portes du Soleil started a new Multipass scheme, where for €1 per day guests staying with registered hotels got entry to the swimming pools, tennis courts, buses and other activities. We joined the scheme and lobbied from the start that this should be included in the mountain bike lift pass.
The Portes du Soleil have listened to us and to you and have now included all the multipass benefits for free as long as you are staying with a registered accommodation provider, such as flowmtb.
This means you can go to the pool after riding, have a quick game of tennis or use a bus for free!
We’re opening up our very own bikes shop this summer – in partnership with our friend Ben from Torico in Dorset, we’re opening “Torico Morzine“.
What does this mean:
- Our morzine hire bikes will be located out of the shop.
- We’ll have DOUBLE the number of bikes – 12!
- We’ll have a top mechanic on hand to keep them all running as well as other people’s.
- We’ll be able to keep stock of more things for our flowmtb guests – tyres, brakepads, bags, tops, helmets, etc etc
- We’ll be organising ‘shop rides’ – in the same vein as regular bike shop rides – i.e. meet a the shop, go for a ride, free.
Take a look at the shop website here: http://www.toricomorzine.com
The Tourist Office have just been in touch to let us know that the entries for the Pass’Pores du Soleil starting from Morzine are now full.
We still have one room available and 3 of our pre-reserved entries to go with it! Get in touch asap if you want them!
Something new from the guys at VTOPO who wrote the fantastic Portes du Soleil MTB guide.
Check them out riding in the south of France and wish you were there. I do!
