And a happy new year…
Not much snow here at the moment, but rather than feel glum about it, I embraced the lack of the white stuff and took my bike out for a ride on Christmas Eve. The trails are bone dry, and frozen. Which makes for some very speedy riding… I also discovered that ice isn’t so grippy and had an off. Three stitches later, and all was back in place (ouch!). I caught it on our new helmet camera for all to see as well - I’ll post that up online once I’ve finished making my way through all our Christmas food!
If ever there was a bike built to be ridden hard here in the alps, it’s the new Santa Cruz Bullit:

Looks like it’s going to be the ultimate demo/hire bike: Bomb proof, go anywhere, do anything, ultra reliable, and bright green! - We should have a few of them next Summer to try. So if you’re not sure your bike is up to the task, or just fancy riding something as bomb proof as a tonka toy on your holidays - you know where to come and grab one
(as long as we’re not out riding them that is!)

After going to the event last year, there was never any doubt about going back in 2007 - it’s a truly awesome event. Like the guy says in Earthed 3:
you can’t call yourself a mountain biker until you’ve ridden the Megavalanche
So we’re not only going back next year, we’re hiring a chalet in town so we can run a special ‘Mega’ week in Alpe d’Huez. More details and prices here.
And here’s my write up of the 2006 race to wet your appetite!
Or just check out this video - it’s the first half of the race filmed on a helmet cam - (not my video)

More snow is forecast for the resort opening weekend.
It’s not much but it’s better than nothing.
We moved into a new flat a few days ago so have been busy moving and sorting out our mountains of bike parts, tyres, and accumulated stuff. How can two people own two sacks of inner tubes (all waiting to be fixed), many more tyres, an entire wardrobe of bike wear and more tools than the local DIY store? We swiftly turned one bedroom into an office space with the aid of IKEA, so I’m sat on a shiny new desk and fantastic bright pink chair writing this.

see!
We’re getting bookings through for the dirtgirls weeks so don’t hold back if you’re interested. They look set to be great fun again with lots of special treats! Check out our site for more info or just get in touch.
